Cosplay at Strange Little Obsessions
Come as you are. Or come as someone considerably more terrifying.
Cosplay is very welcome at Strange Little Obsessions.
Whether you’re an experienced cosplayer, putting together your first ever costume, wearing something simple or arriving in a creation that’s taken months to build, we’d love to see it.
Horror icons, creatures, villains, gothic characters, film favourites, original creations and everything wonderfully strange in between are welcome.
And if cosplay isn’t your thing? That’s absolutely fine too. There is no requirement to dress up to enjoy the event.
No Competition. No Judging. Just Cosplay.
We’re not running a cosplay competition.
Instead, we want cosplay at Strange Little Obsessions to be about creativity, community and having fun.
Wear something you love. Show off something you’ve created. Meet other cosplayers. Take some brilliant photos. Wander around looking magnificently unsettling.
There are no scores, categories or expectations.
Just come and enjoy being part of it.
Murder House Productions
We’re delighted to have Murder House Productions joining us throughout the weekend.
They’ll be bringing their horror cosplay experience to Strange Little Obsessions and helping us add a little extra chaos to the atmosphere.
Keep an eye out for them around the event, say hello, grab a photo and prepare for a few horror characters to be roaming the venue.
Murder House Productions are also supporting our event charity fundraising, helping us raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Cosplay Guidelines
We want everyone to have fun while keeping the event comfortable and safe for attendees, guests, vendors and cosplayers.
Please keep a few things in mind:
Always ask before taking photographs.
A costume isn’t automatic consent to be photographed or filmed. Please ask first and respect someone’s answer.
Be mindful of large costumes and props.
Some areas of the event may become busy, so please be aware of the space around you and avoid blocking walkways, doors or accessible routes.
Props must be safe.
Real weapons or anything capable of causing injury are not permitted. Props should be suitable for use in a busy public event.
Be sensible with realistic props.
If you’re bringing something that could easily be mistaken for a genuine weapon, please speak to the SLO team when you arrive.
Think about visibility.
Masks and costumes that restrict your vision are welcome, but please take extra care when moving around busy areas.
Respect personal space.
Please don’t touch another person’s costume, props, mobility equipment or belongings without permission.
If we’re concerned about a costume or prop on the day, a member of the SLO team may ask to take a look or request that it isn’t used within the event.
Accessibility & Cosplay
Cosplay should be accessible too.
There is no expectation for a costume to look, move or function in a particular way.
Mobility aids, medical equipment, sensory adaptations, comfortable footwear, seated cosplay and adapted costumes are all completely welcome.
If something needs changing so that you can cosplay comfortably and safely, change it.
Your comfort matters considerably more than costume perfection.
